  • Sessions are 60 minutes by default. This can be adjusted to suit younger learners or specific goals -- just let me know when booking.

  • Both options are available, though I prefer to teach maths and physics in person only.

    Online via Microsoft Teams, which works brilliantly for chess coaching.


  • My teaching space is the upstairs of a converted weaver’s washouse in central Stroud.

  • Payment is by bank transfer. An invoice will be sent after your session is booked. No payment is required before your free taster session.

  • I teach children from age 7, teenagers and adults. Lessons are always adapted to the student's age, experience and learning style.

  • I really encourage you to engage with your child’s learning as much as you can, so you are more than welcome to sit in on lessons.

    If you would like to be nearby but are unable to join, or it’s not your cup of tea, there is a space downstairs where you are welcome to relax or, if needed, to get some work done. As the space is connected I do ask that you refrain from taking calls during this time as this can really distract from the class.

  • SEN students are welcome. Please do just be in touch to discuss how I can making learning for you/your child as accessible as possible.

  • Please give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be counted as a used session.

  • I would be happy to teach small groups, either in my teaching space or elsewhere. I have previously taught after school clubs and am planning to start holding chess retreats soon.
